Doug Jensen, 41-Year-Old Des Moines Man Has Been Arrested – In Custody In The Polk County Jail

Doug Jensen, a 41-year-old Des Moines man who was photographed among the mob that invaded the U.S. Capitol, has been arrested and is in custody in the Polk County Jail, Sgt. Ryan Evans of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Saturday morning.

He was booked into the jail at 1 a.m.

You are crazy sir, and no, I won’t call you Superman.

FBI Public Affairs Specialist Amy Adams said Jensen was arrested by the FBI, and he’s facing five federal charges:

  • Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority.
  • Disrupting the orderly conduct of government business.
  • Violent entry and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building.
  • Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.
  • Obstructing a law enforcement officer during a civil disorder.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., was not immediately available for comment.

Doug Jensen, a 41-year-old Des Moines man, was identified in multiple videos and photographs at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday wearing a “QAnon” T-shirt over a sweatshirt and a knit cap. His next shirt choice will not be his own. It will be orange. Hope it was worth it.

Jensen posted multiple photographs of himself attending the Capitol invasion, in addition to replying to other accounts associated with the “QAnon” conspiracy community on social media asking if they liked his shirt.

In a video posted by Igor Bobic, a politics reporter for HuffPost, Jensen appears to be one of the first people attempting to push past a police officer and into the Capitol. Jensen is at the front of the crowd and follows the officer up a staircase, running behind the officer who is trying to keep the crowd from entering the second floor.

Jensen was among the people whom D.C. Metropolitan police seek to identify as a part of the Capitol break-ins. His photograph appears under a listing for “unlawful entry” around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was one of the thousands of Trump supporters who marched from a campaign-style rally to the Capitol on Wednesday and stormed the building as lawmakers were convening to certify presidential electoral votes, forcing lawmakers and staff to shelter in place.

No Iowans were killed or arrested during last week’s protests, but multiple people from the Hawkeye State said they were in the nation’s capital for Trump’s rally and the subsequent “stop the steal” actions around Washington.

Jensen could not be reached for comment.
